10-Year Treasury Yield Tops 4.75%, Japan’s 10-Year Yield Hits 3% for First Time Since 1996 #Bonds

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield hit a new 52-week high above 4.75% Monday (touching 4.768%, its highest since Jan. 15, 2025) as renewed U.S.-Iran military escalation and rising oil prices rattled markets.

Before that, the 10-year note hit a post-pandemic peak of roughly 5% in October 2023.

Additionally, Japan’s 10-year government bond yield hit 3% Tuesday for the first time since 1996, before easing slightly — its highest level in roughly three decades.

Higher Japanese yields could pull capital home from overseas bonds, including U.S. Treasuries, adding further upward pressure on U.S. yields.
